Angela Evelyn Bassett was born in the United States. Her work has been recognized for film and television since the late 1980s she's been awarded numerous awards such as two Golden Globe Awards and sixteen NAACP Image Awards in addition to nominations for two Academy Awards and seven Primetime Emmy Awards. Bassett was born in New York New York and fostered by an aunt who lived in Winston-Salem North Carolina. The mother of Bassett had divorced from her father at around five. Bassett and her younger sister later moved from the city of St. Petersburg Florida with their mother. Bassett was in high school when she watched James Earl Jones staring John Steinbeck production Of Mice and Men and realized that her desire to become an actor come true. She was a student at Yale University New Haven Connecticut and graduated with a bachelor's degree (1980) on African American studies and a master's degree (1983) from the Yale School of Drama. Courtney B. Vance met her at Yale, and in 1997 they tied the knot. Qualification: B.A. Graduated from Yale School of Drama School with a master's in African American studies, in the year 1980.
